This week’s Music Mention will be a very short one, and it goes out to the Los Angeles, California based hip-hop group People Under the Stairs (PUTS) that has been making a name for itself with its jazz-heavy influenced tracks and smooth lyrical delivery.

PUTS engenders a laid-back mindset in the listener, as emcees Thes One and Double K lace flows that lick your ear the way A Tribe Called Quest does. Nothing overbearing, nothing too hard, but not without a point. “We wanted to get the ambience of the dudes playing dominoes, the meat sizzling on the grill, the planes flying by,” says the group of their style, “We just said, ‘Let’s try to get what our Saturday is like onto a record. Instead of making a record about Saturday, let’s actually go out and record Saturday.’”
