Unlike a lot of artists trying to make it in hip-hop these days, Futuristic isn’t pretending to be (or own or have lived through) anything that he isn’t. His bio is honest: “There’s no crazy ghetto story… Just a kid who picked up a pen.” The Los Angeles by way of Buffalo, NY rapper is working on his degree in Political Science, and he goes in on everything from classroom crushes to chess games. As far as beats go, he’s using everything from strings to toy piano. For hip-hop heads looking for something fresh from the left coast, Futuristic’s compound syllabic rhyme schemes are definitely worth a listen. Check it out yourself:
