As I take a break from perpetually procrastinating the planning of my trip out west, I took a few minutes to watch the rest of the Season 8 premiere of Entourage. Entourage is sort of my Dos Equis — I don’t normally watch television, but when I do, I watch Entourage. The premiere closes with a big speech from Vince, a crying Ari (yes, a crying Ari) and, as the screen fades to black and the credits role the opening super-synthed out bells of Eminem’s “Till I Collapse” off his 2002 release The Eminem Show. A lot of folks have differing opinions about the Grammy-nominated album, saying Eminem’s ability on the mic was already hitting the decline that would become the talk of the town two albums later when he put out Relapse amidst a drug addiction. But I remember blasting this song before football practice well into high school. I also remember loving and rapping along with the freestyle 50 Cent put out over the song’s infectious clap track for the 8 Mile Soundtrack– “motion picture shit!”
